Biography
Jerry Yuan is a sophomore at University of Maryland, College Park. He is studying computer engineering and is planning to minor in vocal music. Being someone who is both into STEM and fine arts, Jerry’s interests usually unify the two ends of the spectrum, with pursuits including producing music and creating complex origami. Jerry’s style of music draws inspiration from alternative hip hop, indie pop, psychedelic music, as well as classical, and he is experienced with digital audio workstations such as LMMS and Muse Score. His hobby of complex origami involves applying geometric properties to a piece of paper to create original forms, as well as replicating origami experts’ inventions.
Through the 2 years in Arts Scholars, Jerry hopes to get exposed to new artistic ideas through classroom discussions and field trips, as well as build lasting relationships with other artists. For the Capstone Project, Jerry hopes to compose one or several music pieces that explore with the human emotions of anxiety, stress, and fear to increase awareness about mental health.
After graduating from college, Jerry wishes to become a computer engineer and explore arts as an amateur.
